Corcovado Sirena One-Day Tour from Drake Bay

Begin the day with a scenic boat journey from Drake Bay to the Sirena Sector, located deep within Corcovado National Park and surrounded by extensive lowland rainforest, rivers and coastal habitats.

Check-in takes place at the main beach in Drake Bay at approximately 5:50 a.m., followed by departure at 6:00 a.m. The boat ride along the Pacific coast normally takes between one hour and one hour and twenty minutes, depending on ocean conditions. Since there is no dock at Sirena Beach, passengers should be prepared for a wet landing and may need to step into shallow water when leaving the boat.

After completing the park registration, the experience continues with several hours of guided walking along the trails surrounding Sirena Station. The terrain is mostly flat, making this tour less physically demanding than longer coastal hikes, although visitors should still be prepared for heat, humidity, mud, roots and uneven forest surfaces.

Sirena’s combination of primary rainforest, secondary forest, rivers and open areas creates opportunities to observe wildlife throughout the morning. Depending on the natural activity of the day, visitors may encounter tapirs, four species of monkeys, peccaries, coatis, agoutis, anteaters, crocodiles, scarlet macaws, toucans and many other tropical birds.

Your certified guide will search for tracks, feeding signs, movements in the canopy and sounds coming from the forest while explaining the behavior of the animals and the ecological relationships that make Corcovado such an important protected area.

Wildlife observations are never guaranteed. Animals move freely through a large natural environment, and every visit offers a different experience. Silence, patience and the guide’s knowledge can improve the possibilities of observation without disturbing the wildlife.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., the group stops for lunch at Sirena Station. Food brought from outside is not permitted in the Sirena Sector, so visitors must follow the current regulations established by the national park.

After lunch, the group returns to Sirena Beach and boards the boat at approximately 12:30 p.m. Arrival in Drake Bay is normally between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m., although the final schedule may vary according to weather, ocean conditions, park regulations and operational logistics.

Passion for his work shows!
William guides people through parks and wildlife sightings, first because he loves nature and second, because it's his job. I spent two afternoons with William as a private birdwatching guide in and around the Drake Bay area. If I'm honest, the experience was significantly more genuine than the one I had at Corcovado, as this guide clearly understood animal behaviour, was really passionate about what he was doing, and took great pride in his work. I'm a photographer, so he was patient and knowledgeable about where to look and what to look for. A great experience!

Amazing wild life in Corcovado with William
We enjoyed having William as our guide. Good communication, punctual and clear about setting up the rules on the trail. All the questions we had about the animals and birds we saw were answered. He also proved to be very committed to show us majority of animals the park is famous for.
