Enter Corcovado National Park on foot through Carate and La Leona, hike along remote beaches and tropical rainforest to Sirena Station, spend two nights inside the park and return to Puerto Jimenez by boat.
This three-day expedition combines the challenging coastal route between La Leona and Sirena with several guided walks during the early morning, mid-morning and late afternoon. It is designed for active travelers who want more time inside Corcovado and a deeper experience than a conventional day tour.
Check-in takes place in Puerto Jimenez at 5:20 a.m., followed by departure in a shared 4×4 vehicle at 5:30 a.m.
The drive crosses rural communities, rivers and rainforest landscapes along the southern Osa Peninsula. Arrival in Carate is expected between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m.
The hike begins shortly after arrival and follows the Pacific coastline toward La Leona Ranger Station. The walk from Carate to the park entrance normally takes approximately one hour.
After completing the entrance process at La Leona at around 8:30 a.m., the group continues toward Sirena Station.
The route crosses tropical forest, remote beaches, river areas and exposed coastal sections. Participants should expect sand, roots, mud, heat and humidity while carrying their personal equipment for two nights.
A packed lunch is taken at approximately 11:30 a.m. at a suitable location along the route.
The afternoon hike continues toward Sirena, with arrival at the station expected between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., depending on the pace of the group, trail conditions, tides and wildlife observations.
After checking in and leaving the overnight equipment, participants have time to rest and settle into the shared sleeping area.
Dinner is served at approximately 6:00 p.m., followed by the first overnight stay at Sirena Station.
The second day begins at 5:00 a.m. with a guided walk before sunrise.
The early hike continues until approximately 7:00 a.m., when temperatures are cooler and many birds and mammals begin their morning activity.
Breakfast is served at around 7:30 a.m.
The next guided exploration begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues until approximately 11:00 a.m. Your guide will select the trails according to recent wildlife activity, weather and forest conditions.
Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m.
From approximately 12:00 to 2:30 p.m., the group rests at the station during the hottest part of the day.
The afternoon hike begins at 2:30 p.m. and finishes at around 5:00 p.m., offering another opportunity to explore as temperatures fall and wildlife activity begins to change.
Dinner is served at approximately 6:00 p.m., followed by the second night at Sirena Station.
The final day begins at 5:00 a.m. with another early guided walk.
The group explores the forest until approximately 7:00 a.m., searching for fresh tracks, listening to morning bird activity and revisiting areas where wildlife was previously detected.
Breakfast is served at around 7:30 a.m.
The final guided hike begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues until approximately 10:30 a.m.
After returning to the station, participants collect their belongings and prepare for departure.
The group begins walking toward Sirena Beach at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The shared boat departs at around 12:30 p.m. for the journey along the Pacific coast toward Puerto Jimenez.
Arrival in Puerto Jimenez is expected between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m., although the schedule may vary according to ocean conditions, weather, tides, park regulations and operational logistics.
Possible wildlife observations during the three-day experience include tapirs, four species of monkeys, anteaters, peccaries, coatis, agoutis, crocodiles, scarlet macaws, toucans and many other mammals, reptiles and tropical birds.
Your certified guide will search for tracks, feeding signs, calls and movement in the vegetation while explaining wildlife behavior and the ecological relationships found throughout Corcovado.
Wildlife observations are never guaranteed.
Corcovado is a natural environment where animals move freely according to weather, food availability and their own behavior. Spending three days inside the park provides more opportunities for observation, but every visit remains different and unpredictable.
Accommodation is provided in the shared sleeping facilities at Sirena Station using individual bunk beds.
Bedding is provided, but sleeping areas and common spaces are shared. Privacy is limited, and the experience should not be compared with hotel accommodation.
Participants should carry only the equipment necessary for two nights because all personal belongings must be transported during the long first-day hike from Carate to Sirena.

The price does not include hotel accommodation in Puerto Jimenez, additional drinks, personal equipment, travel insurance or gratuities.
Participants should bring closed hiking shoes or rubber boots, lightweight clothing, rain protection, insect repellent, sunscreen, enough drinking water for the first-day hike, a reusable water bottle, personal medication, a flashlight and waterproof protection for phones or cameras.
Sandals or water shoes are recommended for boarding the boat at Sirena Beach, but they are not suitable for the long coastal and forest hike.
A small, comfortable backpack is essential. Heavy luggage and unnecessary belongings should remain at the accommodation in Puerto Jimenez.
Additional food brought from outside is not permitted at Sirena Station. Visitors must follow the food regulations established by the national park and the instructions provided by the guide.
This tour is considered challenging and requires good physical condition.
The first day includes approximately 18 to 20 kilometers of hiking through tropical heat, humidity, sand, forest trails and uneven terrain while carrying personal equipment.
The trails around Sirena are generally flatter, but participants should still be comfortable walking several hours each day in tropical conditions.
Advance booking is required because accommodation, park permits, transportation and guide spaces are limited.
